10 Key Benefits Of Triphala Churna

Triphala - 10 main benefits of Triphala Churna

Triphala Churna has been used in India as a food supplement for a long time. Almost every household uses Triphala Churna in India or at least knows about it.  It is a traditional Ayurvedic supplement prescribed in ancient Ayurvedic texts. Triphala is a combination of 3 phalas or fruits – Amla, Baheda & Harad. All three fruits are taken in different variations for different purposes.

These herbs are dried thoroughly and powdered finely for consumption. The general ratio is 1:1:1, i.e., all three fruits are taken in equal proportion.

Some handful manufacturers make Triphala churna in 3:2:1 proportion (Amla: Baheda: Harad respectively) which is better for daily use than equal ratio Triphala churna. Triphala in equal proportion is better for skin related ailments.

We will discuss some unique features of Triphala churna below.

Triphala Churna - An excellent source of Vitamin C

Triphala Churna contains Amla, a rich source of Vitamin C. This vitamin helps in scurvy, boosts immunity, keeps digestion good, repairs body tissues and wounds, and makes absorption of iron easier for the body which further helps in good metabolism.

It also helps in maintaining bones, teeth, etc. The Triphala churna with 3:2:1 ratio contains Amla in 3 parts (30g in 100g Triphala). This ratio makes Triphala churna a more powerful source of Vitamin C.

Most of us are victims of bad food habits. Most of the time, we don’t know what, when, and how to eat. This lack of food synchronization creates harmful toxins in the body, which act as slow poison for us. Most of such toxins are responsible for the aging of our body organs rapidly. One of Triphala’s fruit is Baheda, an excellent detoxifier that expels out harmful toxins from the body in a natural way. Baheda dissolves these toxins in sweat, urine, or stool, which get quickly out from the body. In this way, Triphala acts as a god messenger for people suffering from bad cholesterol, which is also a toxin’s form.

There are three doshas in our body – vaat, pitta & Kapha. The position of these doshas in our bodies is responsible for our ailments. When these doshas are in balance, we become healthy and vice versa. To know more about doshas, subscribe to our Youtube channel, where we have shared basics of doshas in the granular videos. Triphala is a beautiful catalyst to keep doshas in balance. It is usually prescribed with the medicine required to control a particular dosha. For example, acidity is a disorder caused due to high pitta dosha. Aloe vera juice is medicine to control acidity. Consuming a bit of Triphala churna with Aloe vera juice will help in calming down pitta faster. Hence, Triphala can be added to control any dosha with medicines appropriate for that disorder.
